Hey all,

Not much to see here. This is really just another update the contact details and the links to various places you where you can find me on the web. I'm open for commission and contract work once more but there are caveats (please see below).

I have also been getting into making music once again recently, which has always been a passion of mine. I don't expect much interest (if any, obviously you're here for the art) at this point but I'm making some tracks available for purchase over on bandcamp. Follow the link to the soundcloud page below to listen first if you're at all interested. :)

Well, that's about it for now. A big thank you for the continued support, shares, faves and comments during all the downtime.

- Dean

I am open for commissions and freelance contract work but due to other commitments I am not able to devote full working weeks to projects at the current time. If you feel this would not impact your project then please do get in touch and we can discuss things further. I do not work for free.

The W.A.R.G - Enceladus 7
UPDATED 17/12/2016 - Because of many changes to this personal project of mine I went back to this piece to spruce it up. You can see how it changed from the original over on my artstation page:…

The project now also has a name.

Giving my new Cintiq a proper run in. It's a dream to use, even being the smallest version. Just a shame I could not afford one earlier.
Overwatch finally got me (curse you Blizzard) during the recent free weekend. I haven't had much chance to play since but the charm of the characters is hard to deny.
Summer's End
Been painting a lot of dark and serious sci-fi behind the scenes lately, which is lovely and all but a tad depressing after awhile. So I also went about painting something a little more lighthearted in my spare time to try and balance things out. I'm not a fan of winter but I do love this time of year and the transition period between summer and autumn.

The setting is very loosely based on a walk home from town I often take through a small wooded area near my house. Other than that I imagine our friendly dragon is preparing to leave the forest for warmer climates before winter sets in. He doesn't need to eat but the local villagers see him as a summer guardian and being the nice folks that they are, bring him gifts to wish him a safe journey and a safe return in the spring.
Just in case it is not clear enough the Star Wars artwork/design work that was recently uploaded is not representative of anything Disney or ILM are working on for the franchise. It was only produced for an art challenge. I know star wars fans are a very passionate and devoted lot but please do not make any attempt to copy the work, remove the watermark bar at the bottom or take it and put it out of context somewhere else on the web. I'm usually pretty lenient on things but in this case I can't be. Thanks everyone.
ILM Art Challenge - Final Round - The Job
Over the summer I participated in an art challenge organised by the art department at ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) and Artstation. Although I didn't place anywhere in the end I was thrilled to make it all the way to the finals and be given the chance to put my work in front of one of the the most renowned studios in the world. I also took a lot more away from the experience on a personal level than I anticipated and the small community of artists that survived to the end were some of the nicest, most passionate and talented people I've met. By the time it was over I think most, if not all, of us had forgotten it was a competition at all and it felt like saying goodbye to a family. Whatever the case it was an experience I won't soon forget.

A huge thank you to Artstation and the art department at ILM for making it all possible. And of course a big congratulation to the winners! :D

Above are my entries for the final round of the challenge but if you're any kind of Star Wars fan I strongly urge you to check out the micro site featuring the work of all the challenge survivors below. There is an enormous amount of talent on display:…

Hey buz,

Sorry for the late reply been out of action for a week or so. Do you mean the brush with size 15 (3rd on the list) or the 15th brush down the list? I have had a problem in the past with photoshop not recognising my art tablet and defaulting all the brush settings to round. Usually solved by updating the drivers or restarting photoshop. Can you check that isn't happening as well? I have not come across this problem with downloading the brushes yet and would like to get to the bottom of it. Thank you :)

well the 15th brush down

my problem is you see it a a more triangular shape just before you download it like there

and it also has that fading effect

but after i downloaded it it turned into a circle shape and lost it's fade effect

so basically it looked like the default brushes and not the ones i downloaded

i really don't know if this has to do with pen pressure ?

the sizes are just fine though

wait, sorry are you talking about the size 20 brush or the size 80? I may have been counting the list wrong. The size 20 brush is meant to be round, the stroke preview just makes it look a bit triangular with a fade effect unfortunately. It is meant to be a hard edge brush just a bit less hard than the default hard round. The brushes will feel slightly different to use depending on how firm you make your pen pressure settings, but that won't effect if a brush is round or not.

If the size 80 brush is turning into a round brush then I need to investigate further.
